Parks and Recreation favourite and comedian, Aziz Ansari addressed his recent sexual misconduct allegation during an intimate show in New York City.

More than 18,000 people attempted to get tickets for the 200 capacity event, which occurred at the Village Underground on Monday Night. It was during the show, which was an opportunity for Ansari to test out new jokes ahead of his next tour, that the comedian opened up about the allegations made last year by an anonymous 23-year old photography known only as “Grace”.

Grace” alleged that Aziz Ansari took advantage of her during a date and ignored what she felt to be obvious signs that she didn’t want to engage in sexual activity. You can read the full extent of her story on Babe.net by clicking here.

The comedian responded to the allegation last year: “In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.”

However, he clearly felt that he had more to say, as he brought it all up during the show on Monday night.

It’s a terrifying thing to talk about,” he said. “There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way.”

“But you know, after a year, how I feel about it is, I hope it was a step forward. It made me think about a lot, and I hope I’ve become a better person.”

“If that has made not just me but other guys think about this, and just be more thoughtful and aware and willing to go that extra mile, and make sure someone else is comfortable in that moment, that’s a good thing.”

The comic claimed that the allegations gave him perspective. “There was a moment,” he said, “where I was scared that I’d never be able to do this again.”

“You canceled whatever you were supposed to do tonight, and you came out in the cold, and you waited in line, and you put your phone in a stupid pouch,” he continued.

You did all this shit just to hear me talk for an hour and some change, and it means the world to me, so thank you so much.

Aziz Ansari will soon be heading out on his first major UK and Ireland tour since the allegations. We don’t feel it’s appropriate to directly promote those dates now due to the nature of this article. However, if you do want details, you will find them by clicking here.
